Intro Blog


 My name is Pedro Ribeiro, I'm a student here at Fort Lauderdale high. I'm 16 years old and this is my first year taking media studies. So far this has been one of my favorite electives this year. I really like the teachers, they both understand what a student cares about and what it's like from a students shoes. Although they both have strong and loud voices, you can tell they really care for us and just want us to pass at the end of the course. I don't have many consistent hobbies. I was boxing for over a year but it all got too repetitive for me so I ended up stop going. School is now holding soccer tryouts so hopefully I'm able to make it in. All my friends have said that it is pretty easy to get in this year so it looks like school soccer will be my next hobby. I live with my mom, sister, and step-dad, we've been living together for about 6 years now. My dad lives far West in California so I don't get to visit him regularly. I have 6 dogs right now but that's only because our dog had puppies. They are already 11 weeks old and we are currently fighting a battle to see which ones we'll keep and which ones we'll give away. We had thought if we give the dogs away to family members then they'd be around and not gone forever, so now we are trying to find family members able to raise a little puppy. One thing I like to do is be with my friends. My friends help me with so much, they always got my back and they are some of the most loyal people I know. One thing me and my friends do is play games. A lot of the time you'll catch us together in a call playing some game like Rocket League or COD. All in all I have high expectations for myself to succeed in this class and I know my teachers will help me succeed this year as well.

Genre Research: Comedy

  My group and I are also researching comedy. As much as we want action, we also need to laugh. A comedy would also be a lot easier for us since we can just be ourselves. Comedy movies have a lot of close- ups, pans, long shots, and zooms. Close ups allow you to lead your audience into a more intimate setting. You can literally bring your audience closer to the action. And it emphasizes the importance of what we see. But as the push continues, it all breaks, letting viewers know they're watching a comedy movie.Long shots  give an overall context to the scene and usually lets viewers know that what we’re seeing right now isn’t the whole picture... until it zooms all the way out. Static shots, or stand still shots, build suspense. In comedy movies it allows room for the characters to correct themselves or something, Almost like a "wait for it" moment.    Props Being that our commercial is an Apple Watch commercial, our main prop will be the Apple Watch. However we will also have different color Apple Watch bands as well as props aswell Costumes We have came up with these costumes to flow with the message we are trying to portray of the apple watch within that scene. Therefore, two of us will be exempliying the athletics perks of the Apple Watch, by wearing athletic clothing, to show the health and workout benefits of the watch. Another scene will include one of us wearing a really nice outfit, which may include, but is not limited to a nice shirt, jeans and some nice shows. This will help show the customization part of the watch and how stylist it can be and easy access it can. Film review changes

My group and I worked on our film in class. We talked about what modifications we thought needed to be made before we started. My colleagues and I showed our video to strangers last week. They offered us their feedback on how they liked our film and what modifications they thought should be made once they had seen it. We reviewed which adjustments we could and couldn't change as the group went around discussing what changes they were told to make. Many users claimed that the sound was an issue, and that it was difficult to hear specific parts of the actor or actress. Damaine did his best to improve the volume, but it couldn't be adjusted completely without re-filming everything. The editing was also brought to our attention as a concern. We'd have to fix it because some people thought it looked choppy. Damaine corrected what he could as the rest of the crew and I stood behind him, watching what he was doing.
