Critical Reflection

 

The short movie project process was a journey to represent human relationships and the issues that social groups face in their day-to-day lives. The project aimed to create a narrative that was engaging, thought-provoking, and meaningful. This essay reflects upon the ways in which the project represents different social groups, how the elements of production work together to create a sense of branding, how the project engages with the audience, and how the research informed the products and the way they use or challenge conventions. 

Our short movie project aimed to represent a certain social group and issues by presenting characters from different cultural backgrounds and economic situations. The characters of "Luigi" and "Pietra" come from different economic backgrounds, being immigrants and facing their struggles reflect the issues faced by many people in society. "Luigi" is a young man from a “working-class" background forced in the underworld, while "Pietra" comes from a similar family and has to deal with the expectations placed upon her. Through these characters, the project presents the economic divide and its impact on people's lives. The project also presents cultural diversity by including characters from different backgrounds. The project features characters from Brazilian and Jamaican cultures, and their cultural backgrounds are an essential part of their characters. 

The elements of production play a crucial role in creating a sense of branding for the June bug project. The postcard made for the movie generated a lot of publicity and attention for the project. The design of the postcard was carefully curated to reflect the mood and themes of the movie, creating a sense of branding that was consistent with the movie's overall tone, also including a release date for the viewers to watch in theaters. The "June Bug" website and social media pages were also important elements of the project's branding. The website provided information about the project and allowed viewers to connect with the project's creators. The social media pages allowed the creators to engage with their audience and promote the project. 

The short movie project engages with the audience in several ways. One of the ways the project engages with the audience is through the relatable and humble acting work.
